On June 29, 2023, members from China-Belarusian TCM Centre headed by Ma Ruijie, vice president of the Third Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (THZCMU), and other doctors like Liu Wenbing, Li Zengtu and Ye Xin, were invited to participate in the 2nd China Commodities and Services (Belarus) Exhibition held at the China-Belarusian Industrial Park to promote TCM culture and technology among the Belarusian industrial and commercial circles and the general public. Cao Qifeng, Deputy Director of Zhejiang Provincial Health Commission, and Ma Huijuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of THZCMU, also attended the opening ceremony of the conference.
The 2nd China Commodities and Services (Belarus) Exhibition is aimed at carrying out the strategic plan of round-the-clock comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Belarus, further deepening the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and continuing to promote in-depth cooperation in the infrastructure, product and service trade of the two countries, with the aim of turning China-Belarus Industrial Park into a model of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.
Among the many booths, the booth of THZCMU & the China-Belarus TCM Centre was exceptionally popular, widely praised by the participants. The booth set up a "Zhejiang School of Chinese Medicine" cultural exhibition area, displaying Zhejiang's local herbs like Chinese herbaceous peon and zhebeimu, TCM scent capsules, Jin Gui Gan Kuang Li-Pharyngeal Compound and other special preparations. With the traditional folk music playing, Dr Li Zengtu led the participants to do the eight trigrams boxing. The expert group also provided participants with special TCM diagnostic and treatment services, including acupuncture & moxibustion, tuina, auricular acupoints, acupoints patch, etc. Professor Ma Ruijie introduced the clinical application of acupuncture & moxibustion and external TCM therapy through demonstrating the special techniques of electro-acupuncture, gua sha and other operations. Participants said they were impressed by TCM and felt the miraculous efficacy of acupuncture & moxibustion and acupressure, and asked for more information about TCM and made appointments for treatment by TCM physician Ye Xin.
During the exhibition, Deputy Director Cao Qifeng, Section chief Chen Zhengfang, Secretary Ma Huijuan and Vice dean Ma Ruijie also paid visit to Counsellor Wang Ruijuan of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus to report on the current status of China-Belarus TCM Centre. Mr. Wang expressed his full affirmation of the work of THZCMU in the implementation of the "Belt and Road” Initiative by promoting TCM abroad. And he also expressed his care about the construction of TCM Centre and the work and life of expatriates in Belarus.
In the meeting with Ren Fei, Deputy General Manager of China-Belarus Industrial Park Development Company, Mr. Ren Fei firstly expressed his thanks for the special technical services of TCM in Belarus carried out by THZCMU in this exhibition, which allowed more Belarusian people to see the products and technologies related to TCM, thus further promoted the popularity and development of TCM in Belarus, and helped to broaden the exchange and cooperation of TCM services between China and Belarus. He also introduced the construction and development of the park and the preferential policies for investment in TCM in the park to the administrative delegation. Both sides exchanged views on the mutual recognition of the qualification of TCM practice and the governmental approval of TCM in Belarius, and reached a preliminary consensus.
Cao Qifeng stressed that this exhibition has provided a new window for TCM to go global and a new platform for disseminating TCM culture. As the only national "Belt and Road" TCM centre in Belarus, China-Belarus TCM Centre will continue to explore the potential for cooperation, expand the field of cooperation, enrich the content and scope of TCM exchange and cooperation, and promote mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
As a key project in health cooperation between Zhejiang Province and Minsk Region of Belarus, China-Belarius TCM Centre, established by THZCMU, is located in the regional hospital of Minsk Region. The construction of the centre started in 2018, and inaugurated the operation in 2019. The centre includes a number of clinics, including acupuncture & moxibustion area, tuina and massage rehabilitation area, and sports rehabilitation area, etc., aiming to provide high-quality model TCM services for the local people in Belarus as well as spreading TCM culture and TCM health management. Since the opening of the centre, it has played a positive role in preventing and treating common diseases and improving people's health, and has been well praised by the governor of Minsk region and acclaimed as the best overseas TCM centre by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
