The Medical Ethics Committee of the Third Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang Chinese Medical University was established in 2009 as a permanent organization responsible for the ethical review and supervision of medical research or technology involving human beings, such as clinical trials of drugs, clinical trials of medical devices, in vitro diagnostic reagents and physician-initiated clinical research projects, as well as new medical technologies. In November 2020, the hospital passed the World Federation of Societies of Traditional Chinese Medicine's "Accreditation of Ethical Review System for Chinese Medicine Research" (CAP Accreditation) accreditation. In 2022，it completed the re-accreditation supervisory audit.

Purpose of the Ethics Committee: To ensure that the dignity, safety and rights of subjects are protected by reviewing the scientific and ethical rationality of clinical research projects, to promote biomedical research to meet high scientific and ethical standards, and to enhance the public's trust and support for clinical research.

The scope of ethical review includes: drug clinical trial projects; medical device clinical trial projects; clinical research projects involving human beings; new technology and new projects.
